Jeffrey Michelman concentrates his practice in intellectual property, computer technology law and entertainment law. In his intellectual property and computer technology law practice, Mr. Michelman assists clients in the development and acquisition, use, protection, escrow, licensing, and sale of proprietary products and services under the laws governing patents, trademarks, copyrights, entertainment rights, computer software and hardware, Internet commerce, trade secrets, and know-how. He regularly handles disputes in these areas in state, federal and international forums. For larger clients, Mr. Michelman has managed clients' patents and trademarks as well as litigation involving intellectual property in the United States and abroad.

In the entertainment law area, Mr. Michelman reviews print and broadcast material for compliance with all applicable laws. He also manages client entertainment and sports law matters and has represented hip-hop rapper Nelly, actress Neve Campbell, the singing group Hanson, and KangaROOS shoes, in a wide variety of matters.

Mr. Michelman has led successful litigation on behalf of KangaROOS U.S.A. against numerous corporations around the world including Edison Bros. Stores, Inc., Target Stores Inc., Bridgestone Trading, Canguro S.P.A.(Panama), Kasimas Co. (Greece), Hang Ten (Canada), Bata (Italy), Dae Yang (Korea), Ahlens (Sweden), Eram (Germany), National Electric Trading Company (Hong Kong), C&A (Germany), Norimco (Canada), Sunkyong (Korea). In each of these actions for patent infringement he obtained favorable judgments for his client either through litigation or by obtaining a consent judgment.

Mr. Michelman is a tireless volunteer for the benefit of the St. Louis legal community. He is the founder and co-chair of the E-Commerce and Computer Law Committee of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, adjunct professor of law at Washington University and at St. Louis University School of Law where he taught the course Entertainment Law, and a frequent speaker and noted author on intellectual property and entertainment law subjects and issues.

In addition, Mr. Michelman has been substantially involved in many St. Louis community organizations including Inventors Association of St. Louis, President; Art St. Louis, Vice President; Gash/Voight Dance Theatre, Board of Directors; St. Louis Counts, Small Business Committee, Chair; Leadership St. Louis; St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts; Friends of Edison, Board of Directors; River Styx, Board of Directors.

Mr. Michelman obtained his Masters of Engineering degree at Washington University in 1975, his JD, with honors, at Villanova University in 1967, and his B.A. at Pennsylvania State University in 1964.
