Alan E. Freed Named a Fellow by the AAML

6/1/2009

Alan E. Freed was named a Fellow by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). To be accepted as a Fellow an attorney must be recognized by both the judicial bench and the local/state bar as an expert practitioner in matrimonial law. A Fellow must pass a national and state written exam, participate in a review by a state board of examiners, and be referred by other matrimonial law practitioners in the state. Fellows must demonstrate the ethical standards set forth in the "Bounds of Advocacy" as well as state bar rules of professional conduct, among other requirements. Missouri currently has only 38 Fellows and Alan is the only attorney in the state selected for this highly prestigious distinction this year.

Alan has been practicing law with Paule, Camazine & Blumenthal since its founding in 1994. He has become particularly well-known throughout Missouri for his work as a mediator and as a founding member of the Collaborative Family Law Association. Alan's book, Divorce in Missouri, co-written with Paule, Camazine & Blumenthal attorney Alisse Camazine, has just been released. Alan also is an adjunct professor, teaching mediation at the Washington University School of Law.

The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers was founded in Chicago, Illinois in 1962 and has more than 30 chapters nationwide. The purpose of the organization is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the cause of matrimonial law, to the end that the welfare of the family and society be protected.
